Brokk highlights pair of demo robots

Brokk was thrilled to be a part of the first-ever Live Demolition event at Demolition Austin. It was an unprecedented opportunity to showcase two of the company’s larger machines, the three-ton B280 and the five-ton B500, to a knowledgeable audience. Brokk’s demonstration slots were virtually sold out, keeping the company’s two trainers, August Scalici and Victor Scalici, busy all morning. These two zero-emission 480V 3-Phase electric-powered machines boast incredible power-to-weight ratios: the B500 comes equipped with an Atlas Copco SB 702 hammer, designed for carriers as much as three times heavier, and made short work of the large reinforced concrete blocks provided for the event. With remote-controlled demolition machines, the operator stands clear of danger with an ideal view of the work, controlling the action via a belt-mounted wireless remote. Attendees with prior experience operating excavators caught on quickly, and by the time the event was winding down, there was little concrete left to break up.

Brokk demolition robots occupy a special niche within the demolition industry—they are ideal for confined space, selective demolition where power and precision are at a premium. More recently, large models have been put to use in top-down demolition projects, replacing high-reach excavators in multi-story demolition jobs. Other demolition “Brokk jobs” include interior strip outs, bank vaults, parking garages, smokestacks, sports arenas and much more. The NDA’s Live Demolition gave Brokk’s customers a chance to try out the latest models and allowed people who were curious about demolition robots to find out for themselves just how remarkable they are.
