Volvo Construction Equipment showcases demolition excavators

Volvo Construction Equipment showed off new excavators at Demolition Austin, which gave attendees a hands-on feel for these rugged pieces of equipment.

Volvo brought two demolition-ready excavators for contractors to operate—the short-swing ECR355E and the EC380EL.

Attendees were able to simulate tearing down concrete buildings by using an ECR355E with a Genesis 290 Razer to pulverize reinforced concrete into small six-inch pieces. As a short-swing model unique to the demolition industry, contractors were able to test the ECR355E’s surprising power and stability.

Volvo also showcased an EC380E with a Genesis 665R shear, allowing participants to cut 20- to 30-foot beams into three-foot pieces. Contractors could experience the power of the machine’s hydraulics and watch firsthand the ease of mounting the shear to the excavator.

More than 600 people tested equipment at the 2018 convention, generating plenty of excitement for the different options available from Volvo. You can expect to see Volvo Construction Equipment ready with more equipment to test at next year’s convention in Denver.
